About

What is a Ripping Service?

We take the hassle out of CD conversion and save you time! Our ripping service takes your CD, album, tape and other media collections and transfers them into digital music collections that will be suitable for play on a computer, portable media player, or home media center.

Features

What is a digital music catalog?

Included on your DVD, hard drive or other storage devices when we return your music is a beautiful Digital Music Catalog. Think of this as a glossary that lists everything you have in your collection. The albums are listed alphabetically in an easy to view, easy to search document that is viewable on any computer with a web browser. We may even include links to lyrics, band tours, and sample audio clips.

Is album art included?

Accurate album information and high-quality cover art is provided with every file possible, making searching and organizing your collection a breeze.

What do you mean by "digital music collection?"

When we receive your music, it is put through our one of a kind stylizing process. We rip your albums in the codec (format) of your choosing, attach metadata (artist, track, album artwork, etc.) to every track possible, verify the structural integrity of the music files, and move your collection to high quality DVD's, external hard drive, network attached storage, iPods, MP3 players and other applicable devices.

How will my music library be organized?

Our service takes your CD collections and transforms them into a stylized digital music collection, ready to be played on a computer, portable media player, or home media center. Once you drag and drop or cut and paste the file into iTunes or other players you can organize and utilize the collections in a variety of easy to organize ways. See our knowledge base for more information.

Can you reorganize the existing music that is on my ipod &/or external hard drive?

We do have custom services for grooming entire collections, getting rid of all duplicates, finding cover art and metadata.

Will the DVD archives play on my CD player?

The DVD archive is available in order to simply transfer the converted music or video files onto your computer's music library (such as iTunes) or video player and enjoy. Remember a hard drive or music server is recommended for ease of transfer with larger collections.

Will the archives work on both Apple and Windows computers?

Yes, the archives are formatted to comply with Mac or Windows format. You may wish to check with your device manufacturer for playback (ie. if you are converting to Flac it will not playback in iTunes, whereas MP3 is no problem).

I'm sending my own and/or purchasing a hard drive on this website, will I still get a DVD archive?

No, not unless you specifically ask for both. If you have over 200 CDs or are converting to a Lossy format and would like DVDs, you can purchase an extra DVD set on the conversion page. Please see our service pages for other media conversion delivery methods.

How do I load my music onto my computer?

Once digitized simply follow the simple loading instructions we included with your order. Looking for more help? Simply contact us and we will lead you in the right direction.

Are the digital files returned to me CD quality?

You can choose nearly any format that meets your needs. Please see our knowledge tab for more information.

Ordering

How do I place an order?

Go to the order page and tell us how many CDs or other media you plan to send and designate which bitrate (example MP3 @ 192) you would like your files converted to. Next, decide if you'd like your digital music delivered back to you on DVDs or a hard drive (for 200 or more CDs a hard drive makes the most sense) and let us know if you want to add or load devices such as: iPods, hard drives, music servers and network attached storage. Feel free to contact us for any of our pro services and we'll be glad to get you quick quote. Take a look at the other terms for all of our services.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept major valid credit cards and authorized gift cards when applicable.

Do you have a minimum order size?

We will rip collections of any size but always encourage our customers to rip their entire collection. Complementary shipping kits are included with order over 100 CDs. Custom shipping kits can be added to the cart for nearly all other media conversion services offered.

What audio file formats and bitrates do you offer?

For CDs we offer the following formats: MP3, AAC, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, WMA , WMA Lossless and WAV. The bitrates we offer are: Standard Quality 128 kbps, Good Quality 160 kbps, Medium Quality 192 kbps, High Quality 224 kbps, 256 kbps and Very High Quality 320 kbps. Our most popular format choice is MP3@224 kbps. For records and tapes please visit their feature pages on this website. For all other media conversion feel free to call us.

How do I know which format and/or bitrate to choose?

Bitrate generally refers to the size (bigger or smaller) of a file. Most people, if ripping CDs for the sole purpose of transferring files into a portable playing device such as ipod, generally ask for MP3 with a bitrate of 192. Please see our glossary and storage calculator to better understand what bitrate will best suite your needs.

Do you convert to multiple formats?

Yes! For CD ripping an additional $0.25 cents per CD you may add another format! The most common combinations are FLAC and MP3. Please see feature pages or call us for other services.

Do I get my music CDs, Albums, Tapes, Home DVD Movies and other media back?

Yes. All you media will be shipped back to you with your new digital music library. We insure all shipments along with the hardware you purchase on the CD Ripping website or send to us for its full value.

What do you do with scratched or damaged discs?

Every CD we receive is hand inspected, cleaned, and repaired if necessary to make sure that your collection is perfect. The damaged CD will be returned to you with the rest of your original CD collection. Your charges will be adjusted after we complete your collection so you're only billed for the exact number of CDs that were successfully converted.

What benefit does the hard drive option provide?

Keeping your digital music collection on an external storage device keeps your computer hard drive space free and makes the computer transfer process much simpler. Plus, it's a great way to store your collection and enjoy it throughout your home.

Do you maintain a copy of my music and/or media?

We retain your music and/or media on our secure servers for a maximum of 30 days in order to be sure you have safely received your music files. We normally begin the deletion process 15 days after delivery verification.
